1. Introduction

The e.Gate software broke new ground in the user interface design and system expandability by incorporating the Virtual Mimic Panel (VMP) and built-in Logic Programming capability

2. Key Product Features/Innovation

2.1 Virtual Mimic Panel (VMP)
Beside the traditional Graphical/Map user interface commonly used in other access control systems, e.Gate software introduces a fully programmable Virtual Mimic Panel (VMP), which has established a new yard stick in access control industry.

Similar to hardware mimic panel, the e.Gate’s VMP comes with 24 virtual lamps and switches arranged in 6 rows by 8 columns. All the virtual lamps and switches on the VMP can either be programmed to reflect the system status and to activate any hardware within the network, using the in-built programming capability.

This VMP interface greatly simplifies system monitoring and control tasks performed by security professionals. This in turn improves the efficiency and ability to detect abnormalities. From the feedback gathered in the field, most security professionals are more comfortable in using the VMP instead of traditional graphical/map based interface.

2.2 Logic Programming Capability
A second key feature of e.Gate system lies in the built-in Logic Programming capability. Sensors and system status can be programmed by using simple AND/OR logic to trigger other relays/actuators or executing third parties’ software. The features allow the system to be easily integrated with any other electrical or computer systems. For example, the system can be programmed to switch the CCTV monitor to focus on the main entrance when the main lobby motion detector is being triggered, play an audio warning message on the Public Address system, and activate a auto-dialer to contact an off-site security personnel.

This feature has been used in the field to connect the e.Gate system to a fire and safety system, auto-dialer, CCTV system, digital and time-leap video recorder, building automation system, public address system etc.
